Australia Travel Diary
We are finally on to our final travel diary from the NZ/AUS 2015 trip. As I said in my last travel diary, This one will be about the New Zealand sounds, Hobart Tasmania, and Sydney Australia.
I’m going to start off this post by apologizing ( yet again ) for the quality of the pictures from this trip. We’re all friend here so I feel like I can expose my stupidity without being judged by you guys. I lugged my Nikon d3200 all the way to the other side of the world and didn’t take any pictures with it. It actually didn’t even leave the ship. If that wasn’t bad enough, I had just gotten a new iPhone right before the trip and I didn’t realize that I didn’t take the plastic protector off until we got back. Don’t worry I know I’m the worst. I promise ill do better next time lolol!
New Zealand Sounds:
So with that being said my pictures ( DSLR or lousy iPhone pics ) could never capture the beauty of the New Zealand Sounds. We sailed through Milford, Doubtful and Dusky Sound. Each one was prettier than the last. We went to the cafe, got a hot tea, then went up to the top deck of our ship to soak up all the scenery. The wildlife that we saw in the sounds was crazy! Penguins, Dolphins all kinds of marine life. It was unforgettable. Cold, but unforgettable.
After a few days at sea we landed in Hobart, Tasmania. Now this place shocked me. It was not on my travel radar at all and it was actually home to one of my favorite days I’ve ever had.
We booked this tour through the cruise line for. We went to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where rescued indigence animals are rehabilitated and live. You literally walk through the doors and there are kangaroos EVERYWHERE ( as you can see in the pictures below). They had all types of different animals including a Tasmanian devil. We saw a Tasmanian devil in Tasmania. How cool is that? I can honestly say this is my favorite place I have ever been.
I constantly say I left a piece of me in Tasmania, and this sanctuary is the reason. Best experience I’ve ever had. If you don’t listen to anything else in this series please, please, please go to Bonorong. See the pictures below for a glimpse into just how thrilled I was!
This was the first glimpse I got of Sydney and it did no disappoint!
Sydney, Australia is a melting pot of so many different cultures and people. It’s really obvious in all aspects of the city. Food, architecture, shopping, whatever your in the mood for you can find it.
When we exited our ship, we went straight to our hotel to throw off or luggage then went to Bondi Beach. Bondi was amazing! It was a great place to just immerse ourselves in the culture and do as the locals do!
Sydney day two was for exploring. I highly recommend Hop-on Hop-off busses for this. It’s a great way to cover a lot of ground and get in the main points of interests. They’re also pretty inexpensive especially cause they’re your transportation so you save there!
On our third day we had a few hours before we had to be at the airpot to head home ( so sad I know). So thats when we decided to go tour the Sydney Opera House and just take in the city one last time before we left. You can’t go to Sydney and not go see the opera house its iconic! Thats why I had too get room fun pictures here.
